PIOTR KURCEWICZ

- OFFICE MANAGER, HOGAN&HARTSON JAMKA SP. K.

Q: What is the history of Hogan&Hartson in the Polish market and what is/are the principal specializations of the office?

A:

We were one of the first international offices to start their operations in Poland.  We opened our first branch office in Warsaw in 1991. Its opening is associated with a few anecdotes related to the poorly developed telecommunications, not to mention the banking system at that time. Since then Poland has undergone dramatic changes. We are pleased to have been able to contribute to them. Hogan & Hartson provided consultancy services for several major investment projects in Poland. Our clients are both international concerns and Polish companies. We offer the full range of legal services.

Q: What are the development plans for the near future? Are you planning to expand the legal service offer and address it to other industries?

A:

We offer our clients the full range of legal services  – ranging from purely corporate service, through transaction and tax consultancy, intellectual property protection, banking law, capital and pharmaceutical market and real property law to public procurements. Our clients are active in practically all the sectors of the economy. That is why we are not planning on opening new practices – our present offer comprises them all. And as for services addressed to other industries – who knows? It is interesting to note that our office in Moscow specialized in aerospace law. This is not a joke. We worked as legal consultants to the first private cosmonauts traveling by Russian rockets.

Q: You have recently prolonged the lease agreement at the Atrium Tower for another rather long period. What were the reasons behind this choice?

A:

Hogan & Hartson is a global company. Its branch offices operate in all the major business centers of the world. Poland, with its impressive economic growth, dynamic society and extraordinary entrepreneurship, is a very important market for Hogan & Hartson.

We chose the Atrium building since it not only satisfies our expectations concerning the best localization and modern technical solutions but also has its character. It suits us.
